Even the best hot tubs run into issues from time to time. The good news is that most common problems have straightforward causes and fixes that any owner can work through without calling a technician straight away. At Relxtime, we want Canadian spa owners to feel confident diagnosing what is going on before it turns into something bigger.
This is one of the most common complaints, especially through Canadian winters. If your spa temperature is dropping overnight, the cover is usually the first thing to check a worn or waterlogged cover loses its insulating ability and lets heat escape constantly. If the cover is fine and your heater simply is not firing, check whether your flow sensor or circulation pump is working properly. A blocked filter is often the hidden culprit behind heater failures because restricted water flow triggers automatic shutoffs to protect the heating element.
If your hot tub has no power, start at the breaker panel before anything else. A tripping breaker usually points to a wiring issue, a failing pump drawing too much current, or water getting into an electrical component. Do not keep resetting a tripping breaker without finding the cause it is telling you something needs attention. Control panel errors and unresponsive displays are often linked to circuit board issues or loose connections, both of which are worth having a qualified technician look at.
Cloudy or smelly water is almost always a water chemistry problem. Low sanitiser levels, unbalanced pH, or a filter that has not been cleaned recently are the usual causes. Test your water first, rebalance your chemicals, and give your filter a thorough rinse. If the water is beyond saving, a full drain and refill with a fresh chemical startup is the fastest fix.
Small leaks often trace back to loose fittings or deteriorating seals around jets and plumbing connections. Check the equipment bay for drips after the pump runs. If your jet pump or air blower is not working, listen for whether the motor hums but does not move water that usually means an airlock or a capacitor issue rather than a full pump failure.
Relxtime supports every Canadian customer beyond the sale because a hot tub that works properly is one you actually use.
